Elkhorn is a city in Walworth County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,305 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Walworth CountyGR6.

Elkhorn is located at 424022N, 883225W (42.672900, -88.540342)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.0 km (7.3 mi). 18.8 km (7.3 mi) of it is land and 0.1 km (0.1 mi) of it (0.68%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 7,305 people, 2,919 households, and 1,903 families residing in the city. The population density was 388.0/km (1,005.2/mi). There were 3,014 housing units at an average density of 160.1/km (414.7/mi). The racial makeup of the city was 94.81% White, 0.47% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.83% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.13% of the population.

There were 2,919 households out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.8% were non-families. 28.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.07.
